Can you describe your relationship with your menstrual cycle in three words?
Meticulous, Codependent, Passionate.
If your period was a fictional character, who would it be?
Before having a baby: Lola Bunny in Space Jam (flirty, powerful, go-getter).
After having a baby: Tilda Swinton’s character(s) in Suspiria (2018) (bloody and intense.
Are you navigating any cycle-related conditions and, if so, how do you manage them?
In my luteal phase I like to make special potions to put in my bath, light candles, and watch tiktok till the water gets cold and I’ve turned into a prune. Last month I ate a sweet potato kale soup INSIDE THE BATHTUB!!!

Before joining Stardust, Lola worked in fertility health care and as a doula. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, son, and dog.
What’s your go-to act of self-care when your’re having your period?
Hot water bottle, more sleep, sweet treats, words of affirmations from my loved one.
How do you know your period is coming?
I get so intensely thirsty and every month I’m like “weird why am I parched?! Why do I have this unquenchable thirst that not even 1000 gallons of water could cure” and then a day later my period arrives.
Choose your fighter: tampons, pads, menstrual cup, period underwear
I was a menstrual cup girly for about a decade and then my uterus almost fell out postpartum (uterine prolapse, look it up) and now I’m scared to go back to using one cus I feel like it could suction my uterus out (it wouldn’t)...now that tampons are filled with arsenic and lead I’ve lately been a reusable pad gal!! Or organic tampons. I kinda rotate each month.

What’s your ultimate period craving—sweet, salty, or something unexpected?
It’s cliché but chocolate. I used to pretend to like dark chocolate to appear sophisticated but I want the milkiest, silkiest, sweetest bar of le chocolat sil vous plait.
What is a hormonal meltdown you’ve had where you can look back and laugh?
In high school I once shouted at my parents (which was very rare) “I don’t want to go to F***ING school!” and dramatically slammed the bathroom door. In the bathroom I then (of course) discovered my period in my underwear and ended up laughing.
What do you wish you knew about your menstrual cycle when you were younger?
I wish I was taught about all 4 phases and not just about the period. I didn’t learn about ovulation until I started looking into all the different birth control options. I thought if you had unprotected sex you would get pregnant and that’s a fact. There were no percentages of efficacy rates or options or explanation of all the phases. I had to seek that information for myself out in my early twenties.
What’s one thing you do to treat yourself when PMS hits hard?
Recently I’ve gotten into a naughty habit of ordering in cupcakes…
How do you use Stardust and what are your favorite features?
I love the sync with friends option because I have all my close friends and it’s wild to see when and where we align. I use partner mode with one of my besties and it’s great to get updates on where she’s at in her cycle every morning - a new level of intimacy unlocked.

PCOS: What We Know and What Remains a Mystery
Discussing an unknown subject can be challenging, especially when it’s difficult to provide evidence for its existence. However, this is not the case with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which has existed as long as humanity itself. Despite this, PCOS remains one of the most under-diagnosed and misunderstood health conditions.
